Job Description Construction Engineer I Industrial Controls PLC Technician
Reports to: Project Engineer/ Maintenance Manager
Job purpose : The Controls/PLC Technician will be responsible for process and instrumentation startup and maintenance of fuel farm valve actuators, pump controls & meters and fuel dispensers.
This job will require troubleshooting both electrical and mechanical systems, building and ancillary systems repair and care, This is a mid to upper level skill level position and requires the candidate to be comfortably familiar in the repair and upkeep of the above items. This candidate should possess the skills of an automation specialist and should be able to handle anything electrical and even troubleshoot and program PLC’s.
Key responsibilities and accountability's:
•Ability to read and interpret Mechanical and Electrical Blueprints.
•Ability to troubleshoot electrical controls and draw basic and advance control schematics related to electrical controls.
•Must be able to demonstrate skill in both areas of maintenance including mechanical and electrical.
•Must be motivated and driven to complete tasks.
•Ability to follow a detailed Preventative Maintenance initiative.
•PLC Experience Required.
•Must be able to interpret and comprehend basic ladder logic in order to use the PLC as a troubleshooting tool
• Completed course work in following subjects required (relevant experience may be substituted for individual courses):
Industrial Electricity, AC/DC Circuits I & II, Control Circuits, Programmable Controllers, Programmable Controllers Applications, Industrial Instrumentation,
& Problem Solving for Mechanical Applications.
•Familiarity with GE Faunc / Simplex fuel automation/Grundfos VFD'S
•Assists Engineering with the installation, debugging, and start-up of all P&I equipment for fuel farm systems.
Position may be located in a war zone in a contingency environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions, including lifting and carrying 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time. To ensure safety, health, and security measures within the contract are met, all employees shall be literate in English (read, write, speak and understand).
Living conditions on the project are most likely austere. The most austere sleeping may be in environmentally conditioned tents on “Army type” cots. Restrooms and showers may be 250 feet or further from sleeping quarters. Laundry service for 15 pounds twice per week is commonly provided. Meals are provided at regular intervals in cafeteria or “dining facility” style environment. Living area will most likely have constant hum of generators or similar equipment nearby.

Basic Job Requirements Associates Degree in "Industrial Electronics" preferred.

•Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
