Job Title Masonry Journeyman
Job Description Performs Masonry craft services as assigned. Prepares and applies concrete for fabricating, covering, and reinforcing structures. Builds and repairs walls of block or brick; places block, mixes and applies mortar, checks work for alignment and consistency with plans or existing structure. Places forms for molding concrete, installs reinforcing steel. Inspects bracing and shoring of concrete forms to ensure their stability before and during pouring. Indicates positions for pouring chutes and runways, cranes, or paving machines to facilitate conveying concrete from mixer to forms. Spreads, vibrates, screeds, and floats concrete to ensure that concrete is compacted to desired consistency and surface is finished to specified uniformity and smoothness. Examines concrete, after forms are stripped, and reworks or repairs as needed. Sprays cement mortar or concrete to cover exposed earth, masonry, and steel surfaces and
forcing grout into drilled holes, spaces between foundations and surrounding earth, and fissures in rock foundations, to reinforce structures. Follows safe work practices and ensures compliance with all work area safety requirements. Maintains a clean, safe work area.
Position may be located in a war zone in a contingency environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions, including lifting and carrying 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time. To ensure safety, health, and security measures within the contract are met, all employees shall be literate in English (read, write, speak and understand).
Living conditions on the project are most likely austere. The most austere sleeping may be in environmentally conditioned tents on “Army type” cots. Restrooms and showers may be 250 feet or further from sleeping quarters. Laundry service for 15 pounds twice per week is commonly provided. Meals are provided at regular intervals in cafeteria or “dining facility” style environment. Living area will most likely have constant hum of generators or similar equipment nearby.

Basic Job Requirements High school diploma / GED equivalent preferred. A minimum of 42 months (3.5 years) verifiable, directly related experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications - Prior Military and/or Contingency Operations experience preferred.
