Ideal Innovations, Inc. DNA Analyst in Afghanistan, Afghanistan
Ideal Innovations, Inc. (I-3) is seeking a DNA Analyst to assess an existing foreign national DNA laboratory within an existing criminal forensic laboratory to evaluate existing capabilities and identify additional requirements necessary to bring the laboratory to specified levels of operational capability.
Assess DNA laboratory
Facility, equipment, instrumentation, expendables, and consumables to determine suitability to store, process and analyze evidence for DNA
Standards and protocols for compliance with relevant ISO standards
Training curriculum(s) for personnel from entry to management levels
Education, training, certifications, and qualifications for DNA lab personnel
Personnel to determine if they can accomplish the following tasks: process recovered items for forensic/biometric information to include processing evidence and spectral analysis; provide testimony in a court of law; receive, inventory, and sign for physical evidence; maintain evidence integrity; plan, organize and execute approaches necessary to obtain forensically useful information from the evidence submitted; prepare written reports suitable for court, briefing, intelligence needs, as required; conduct DNA analysis on submitted evidence following a validated DNA protocol; and adhere to current DNA quality assurance standards
Produce a final written report and accompanying brief based on assessment results, outlining facility, equipment, operations, manning, education, and training requirements necessary to bring the lab to both initial and full operational capability.
Develop a written Program of Instruction for training host country nationals and a training agenda incorporating the developed Program of Instruction.
Requirements: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Biology Experience: Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working in an accredited laboratory conducting the full range of forensic serology and DNA work described above. Experience working in an expeditionary laboratory following ASCLD/LAB or ISO 17025 best practices under USG contract may be substituted. Skillset: Possess formal training in Forensic Serology and DNA at a state or federal American Society Crime Laboratory Directors/Laboratory Accreditation Board (ASCLD/LAB) or ISO 17025 accredited laboratory and in proper collection, preservation, and packaging of physical evidence at major crime scenes; able to successfully pass proficiency testing during employment with the company; demonstrated experience in capacity development roles; assessing, training, mentoring, lab design/build/equip; have intermediate level competency in PhotoShop and Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook); and be able to work well in a team environment; possess excellent organizational skills. Travel Documentation: possess (or are able to obtain) US Passport Firearm Qualification: willing to qualify and carry firearms, if required Physical Demands: Successfully meet US Government requirements for medical fitness; willing to work approximately 12 hours per day, seven days a week for extended periods of time; attend pre-deployment training at a designated US DoD deployment center; lift 70 lbs. to a working height of 48 inches; and general office and laboratory duties/functions.
