The Sheet Metal Lead reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the sheet metal mechanics in the performance of their duties. He/she provides assistance with understanding and performing structural repairs, ensuring that timelines are met, and all work is carried out in accordance with approved technical data.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assign work to members of the sheet metal team
Provides technical guidance and understanding on complex structural repairs
Serve as a Subject matter expert on structural issues
Ensures the rate of task accomplishment is sound and reasonable
Provides training as needed
Dispositions structural write-ups in order to affect the correct repair
Gathers data as required to send for further evaluation of repair requirements
Solves repair issues by studying drawings , diagrams, schematics, technical publications, etc.
Position requires a U.S. Department of State Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT).
Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED.
FAA issued mechanic certificate with both Airframe and Power Plant ratings.
FAA Repairman Certificate
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Minimum of Five (5) years experience in the field consistent with the requirements set forth in individual task orders.
Minimum of five (5) years experience in maintenance, modification and repair of tactical aircraft systems of the type being serviced and their associated components is required.
Minimum of 3 yrs experience working structural repairs on aircraft similar to the ones on the program.
Knowledge of equipment related to individual requirements.
Knowledge of military publications (including electronic manuals), drawings, blueprints, microfilm, diagrams and schematics is mandatory.
Completion of U.S. military tactical aircraft maintenance or U.S. military technical school is desired.
Knowledge of military and/or company forms required by work specifications is a plus.
