The Sheet Metal Lead reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the sheet metal mechanics in the performance of their duties. He/she provides assistance with understanding and performing structural repairs, ensuring that timelines are met, and all work is carried out in accordance with approved technical data.


  • Assign work to members of the sheet metal team

  • Provides technical guidance and understanding on complex structural repairs

  • Serve as a Subject matter expert on structural issues

  • Ensures the rate of task accomplishment is sound and reasonable

  • Provides training as needed

  • Dispositions structural write-ups in order to affect the correct repair

  • Gathers data as required to send for further evaluation of repair requirements

  • Solves repair issues by studying drawings , diagrams, schematics, technical publications, etc.

  • Position requires a U.S. Department of State Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT).

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • High School Diploma or GED.


  • FAA issued mechanic certificate with both Airframe and Power Plant ratings.

  • FAA Repairman Certificate


  • Minimum of Five (5) years experience in the field consistent with the requirements set forth in individual task orders.

  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in maintenance, modification and repair of tactical aircraft systems of the type being serviced and their associated components is required.

  • Minimum of 3 yrs experience working structural repairs on aircraft similar to the ones on the program.

  • Knowledge of equipment related to individual requirements.

  • Knowledge of military publications (including electronic manuals), drawings, blueprints, microfilm, diagrams and schematics is mandatory.


  • Completion of U.S. military tactical aircraft maintenance or U.S. military technical school is desired.

  • Knowledge of military and/or company forms required by work specifications is a plus.
