SNAP Operations/Engineering Support
The SNAP Field Service Representative (FSR) candidate hall support the day-to-day end users (i.e. Military Soldiers) of satellite systems by providing day-to-day technical support across the various fielded equipment and shall have the knowledge of IP network concepts to include routing and switching technologies.
Provide first level troubleshooting and implementing basic networks as directed by an appropriate senior engineer.
Provide support for dynamic routing protocols, IP subnetting, STP, and TOS/QoS components.
Technicians will be able to provide over the shoulder training and onsite support to government personnel on operation and maintenance concepts, to include equipment setup, configuration, satellite acquisition, baseband equipment operation and configuration.
Provide direct support on all assigned equipment.
Support the ability to maintain baseline router configurations and resolve networking issues as required.
Perform additional work included but not limited to designing, installing, maintaining and supporting Local Area Network (LAN), Wireless Area Network (WAN) and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) infrastructures.
Provide high-level technical support for voice and data network systems, creates and maintains network documentation, maintains hardware and software standards, and works projects as needed to upgrade to new and/or improved communication equipment and procedures.
Operate Satellite Modems, Redundancy Switch, associated cables, and interconnects, High Power Amplifiers (HPAs), Low Noise Block (LNB), Waveguide (rigid, flex, and elliptical) joints and connections, Intermediate Frequency (IF) cable and connections, Antenna, Antenna motors, Solid State Power Amplifiers (SSPA), Antenna Control Unit (ACU), and associated cabling and interconnects, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)
Maintain and troubleshoot using any Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) required over and above the Built-In-Test (BIT) capability of the supported equipment.
Manage and maintain telecommunication installation supplies including onsite spares.
Maintain on-hand inventories.
Provide Tier 2 and/or Tier 3 network support for a complex enterprise WAN and LAN network.
Troubleshoot and identify sources of problems and resolve issues.
Monitor and resolve service requests in accordance with published Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Review and support in the creation of desktop management policies and procedures for an enterprise.
Support in establishing and enforce best practice processes for network management, including configurations, monitoring, patch management and security.
Support the initial configuration and functional verification of terminal operations (both on the SATCOM and Baseband Networks).
Support the creation and validation of both modem boot files and network router and switch configurations necessary to interface to the existing Government network through close coordination and interface with existing network operations personnel.
Support network monitoring and outage restorations.
Support troubleshooting and terminal repair actions.
Support new requirements definition and implementation of interconnection to the existing government network.
Serve as the Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) subject matter expert, with strong SATCOM operations knowledge and basic baseband knowledge.
Understand Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and its suite of protocols.Shall perform IP addressing and variable length subnet masking techniques.
Shall know baseband and RF technologies.
Shall know Cisco router configuration and operation (or equivalent).
Shall have troubleshooting skills in various SATCOM terminals and complex internetworking environments.
Experience in support of installations, repair, troubleshooting or maintenance of communications electronic systems or equipment.
Experience operating in a tactical environment; operating/maintaining antenna controllers, SSPA, LNA/LNB, up and down converters, Fiber optic/Coax/Ethernet Cable, Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA) and Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) modems (satellite modems).
Experience and skill with commercial and military satellite acquisition procedures and commercial TDMA/FDMA modems required.
Possess in-depth knowledge of complex LAN/WAN communications, network hardware such as Cisco routers, ethernet switches, bridges, gateways and firewalls.
Possess in-depth knowledge of routing protocols such as Routing Information Protocol (RIP), Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP), Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and Open Shortest Path First (OSPF).
Have strong understanding and practical experience with technologies like Multi-Schedule Private Line Service Tariffs (MPLS), Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS), MLA Virtual Private Network (VPNs) and Traffic Engineering Duties involve among others, management of local and wide area network, projects, and installation of new devices, system and ongoing maintenance of infrastructure.
Have experience with Global Security Systems (GSS), Access Control entry (ACE), Wireless, Riverbeds, Infoblox.
Be well versed with the advanced engineering and administration of multiprotocol routers, multilayer switches, network security devices and network management systems.
High school diploma or equivalent (or higher)
Active Secret (or higher) clearance
Cisco certifications Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified
Internetwork Professional (CCIP)
